PROFESSIONAL HISTORY


Ms. Larsen has a B.A. in Psychology, a Master's Degree in Special Education, and 45 units of doctoral study, including a year's study of neuropsychology and neuropsychological assessment.


Independent study included numerous neuropsychological conferences and a year's participation in a Ph.D. seminar on neuropsychology at a Veterans' Hospital, including "brain cutting".  At the University of California, Berkeley, she took neuroanatomy with the medical students, as well as a graduate class in visual perception and an independent study of attention. In order to keep current with progress in the field, she attends three to four conferences and advanced seminars on EEG biofeedback and Quantitative EEG every year.


Neurotherapy training includes over 80 hours of training on the Neurocybernetics equipment, advanced education on the Flexyx Neurotherapy System, and instruction on the Lexicor Neurosearch-24 for acquisition of Quantitative EEG data and coherence training. Ms. Larsen has also received training in the use of Quantitative EEG and attended workshops on the use of hemoencephalography (blood flow) biofeedback to enhance neurotherapy and the Interactive Metronome program.


She has worked with people who have both brain injuries and learning disabilities for over 30 years, being a pioneer in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and has used neurotherapy in her practice for 16 years.  The majority of her work has been in private practice, but she also consulted at local community colleges and a residential and day treatment facility for people with acquired brain injuriesMs. Larsen has spent over 30,000 direct contact hours with clients who have cognitive dysfunctions.


Ms Larsen holds certification as:

  • Brain Injury Specialist, American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists
  • Qualified Independent Practitioner, Society for Cognitive Rehabilitation
  • Certified Senior Fellow, Biofeedback Certification Institute of America.

    Ms. Larsen founded and for three years lead the Northern California Neurotherapists' Network, which met monthly to explore areas of interest in neurotherapy.
